Something Good

But when we can completely let go and not struggle against it, when we can embrace the groundlessness of our situation and relax into its dynamic quality, that’s called enlightenment, or awakening to our true nature, to our fundamental goodness. Another word for that is freedom—freedom from struggling against the fundamental ambiguity of being human.

If you’ve ever loved someone and lost them (especially if it was to cancer), and had to keep living after, you will feel this man’s pain, and at the same time be reminded we are not alone.

Susannah also shared a few links in her Something for the Weekend post (where I get at least one thing for this list each week) to people living in tiny spaces (Tammy lives in a tiny house) which are making me, once again, want to purge, downsize, declutter, and simplify.

    I just love this dense, dense content and it’s all so meaningful! Here are my thoughts on the first half (must go to bed!):
    The brain pickings article fascinates me… I am taking pictures these days of my favorite material possessions as part of the Unravelling class and I am surprised at how they are all so very sentimental. There is very little that I love just because of what it is unto itself.
    That Freedom Experiment article about loving yourself just feels like the right advice to me. Getting so burned out on taking care of other people and/or not taking the proper care of my own self doesn’t turn out well for me… ever.
    And Erica Staab says perfectly how I feel about writing. It really does help me uncover layers of myself I never could have otherwise.

      Yes, that part of Unravelling made me look at things so differently, understand which items mattered and which didn’t.

      It’s funny, Naomi, every week when I put this list together, I think “this is the last one, there can’t possibly be enough other good stuff to make another list” and immediately after I publish it, I’m already seeing things to put on next week’s list! So much good stuff…
