#SmallStone: Day 13

frozenriverroad
When we are children, every frozen river is a road to a magic place, we can create entire worlds out of nothing but some sticks, rocks and dirt, a little snow, a bit of light and our whole imagination. As an adult watching them, my first thought is “be careful!” and my second thought is the memory of exactly what that kind of fearlessness and possibility felt like.

The depth in your photo takes me there – onto the frozen river. I hope they remember this day when they’re older – the wide open sky and a water path they could navigate on foot.

Yes. Lately I’ve been remembering those magical childhood adventures. I may not be able to reproduce those kinds of moments now, but in this new year I plan on allowing myself adventures in whatever form they show up. My wish for the children is that they too will remember, and if they get off course in their adult life, that they can use those memories to find themselves again.
