Thanksgiving

If the only prayer you ever say in your entire life is thank you, it will be enough. ~Meister Eckhart

Last Thanksgiving, looking for a prayer for giving thanks, I stumbled upon the World Hunger Grace from the Girl Scout “Our Chalet Song Book.”

For food in our world, where many walk in hunger,
For peace in our world, where many walk in fear,
For hope in our world, where many walk alone,
For light in our world, where many walk in darkness.
We give You thanks, O God.

With a bit of reworking, personalizing, this is the thanks I offer today:

For food in a world where many walk in hunger,
For health in a world where so many rest in dis-ease,
For friends in a world where many walk alone,
For faith in a world where many are confused by fear,
For freedom in a world where many are imprisoned,
For light in a world where many exist in darkness,
For kindness in a world where we aren’t always kind,
For the opportunity to help in a world where so many suffer,
I wholeheartedly and humbly give thanks.

Just popped over from Dryada Journal’s Meet and Greet and so glad I did! Your adaptation of the Girl scout Grace is just beautiful…such a sensitive soul you must be. I love the Meister Eckhart quote as well. I posted the same quote on my blog today!
