Full Sturgeon Moon Dreamboard

The Full Sturgeon Moon asks: What is your intuition telling you about your dreams?

fullsturgeonmoon13
Shinning, glimmering, reflecting
just below the surface
in the waters of deep knowing
something comes alive.

Notice, be aware,
pay attention.
What truth is there?
What message?
What wants to be born?

The red of the root,
bottom of the spine,
unconscious,
fierce sleeping power.
The enemy of ignorance.

Greatest joy,
natural pleasure,
delight in controlling passion,
and blissfulness in concentration.

Hands held in the Gyan mudra,
waking up the root,
grounding the practice,
calm, concentrated —
the heart opens.

Follow your path into teaching,
in your life and in the world.

Easy, effortless,
where the heart is,
exhale powerful healing,
strength and balance.

You’ve read the books,
write the books.
Grab your boots,
your pen, and your mat.
Write the world,
blood and breath are your ink.

Full Buck Moon Dreamboard

Jamie isn’t hosting this month’s Full Moon Dreamboard, (she’s taking a break from blogging after losing her sweet mom), and I’m a couple of days late making mine. I almost skipped it. I’ve been feeling depressed this past week (missing my Dexter) and not wanting to do much of anything but lie on the couch, eat all kinds of wrong, sleep and watch tv and feel sorry for myself — but after doing this practice for more than a year, it just felt wrong to not do one, to not share it. I appreciate the comfort of this practice, the routine, the space and clarity it provides.

Jamie said last year about the Full Buck Moon, “There’s such gorgeous, lively energy under the Full Buck Moon! On the new moon, as we began gathering for our dreamboards, I invited you to ask yourself, ‘What are my most powerful dreams? Who am I when I am powerful?’ The Full Buck Moon is a time for stepping into that power. Now is the time to set intentions for bold action and big dreams, the time to take action and assert your presence in the world. Now is the time to take a stand and say, ‘Here I am! Here is what I’m dreaming!'”

The Full Buck Moon asks: “What are your most powerful dreams? Who are you when you are powerful?”

fullbuckmoon13

My teacher, Sakyong Mipham, said once,
“We think we are rocks, but we are gold.”
Awake, open, free.
Called to shine.

“I am constantly humbled by the ocean —
it teaches me that we can never control nature
or anything.
Rather, it is all about dancing with these dynamic waves
in ways where you are
poised between sensitivity and power.”

It’s not about being tough.
It’s about being tender, awake, open.

“Each of us feels
some aspect of the world’s suffering
acutely.
And we must pay attention.
We must act.
[Called to shine.]
This little corner of the world
[of our heart]
is ours to transform.
This little corner of the world
[of our heart]
is ours to save.”

I am the water, reflecting your light,
You are the echo of my heart’s song.

“We are all inextricably connected
to a field of awareness that is
infinite, unbounded, and eternal.
Meditation, yoga, and other practices
[writing and dog]
give us direct access
to this field of silent awareness.

By allowing our intentions
to drop into this state of silence and joy,
we put ourselves into the best position
for those intentions to manifest.”

There is a song in my heart,
a sleeping Bodhisattva,
but now it is dawn,
morning is here,
the sun is golden in the sky,
reflected off the water,
and it’s time to shine,
time to wake up.

Full Moon Dreamboard: Full Strawberry Moon

6-Full-Strawberry-Moon

I swear, kind and gentle reader, I had no idea this month’s dreamboard was for a Strawberry Moon when I wrote my Day of Rest post earlier today. It’s a happy accident, a bit of magic, some kind of message from the Universe. At first, the color palette, the images and words I was finding were confusing to me, but when I found the beets, I totally got it.

Here’s what Jamie says, “The Full Strawberry Moon, the Full Honey Moon, the Full Rose Moon, what evocative names for this luscious, sensual moon. As we began to gather our supplies and images beneath the new moon, I invited you to consider the question, ‘What would I love to delight in this month?’ Let this moon set you free to dream with wild abandon, to bust through any barriers that have been in your way. Fill your dreamboard with whatever stirs your spirit and catches your soul – without censorship. Let yourself experience the luscious abundance of this moon and fill your dreamboard to overflowing. Let the pictures drip off the sides of the page. Run wild with your dreams under this full Strawberry moon.”

The Full Strawberry Moon asks: “What delights are you dreaming of?”

strawberrymoon13

Strawberries, obviously.
Flowers from my garden, inspiring me,
encouraging inner joy to bloom.
A touch of kindness.
Well-being off the mat.

Pure food, passion.
Great taste, joy.
Now, make friends with food again.
Eat what you want…

Moment to moment,
surrender is the choice
to open up to what is actually going on
inside us and around us.
It is the most profound form
of alignment with reality —
and it opens us to love.

An intuitive told me
I’m a sleeping Bodhisattva.
My spirit, my root chakra,
is literally a root,
a beautiful red beet
being sung a lullaby, a whispered shhhh…
and my own hands, thick with color and energy,
my heart listening to first thought,
my spirit trusting intuition,
will wake my true power,
the expanding light.

Full Flower Moon

Jamie asks: “What are you dreaming under this Full Flower Moon? This is the time when the buds have transformed into blooms, reminding us it is time to do the same. What are your full flower dreams? Who are you when you’re in full bloom?”

As seems to be the case with many things in my life, I’m a late bloomer — two days late making this dreamboard. And yet, it’s because I have been manifesting something pretty big (I can’t wait to tell you about it — details on Saturday!), using my energy to bloom and create, so it seems right that this one took a little extra time.

Full Flower Moon asks “How would you like to bloom? Who are you when you are in full bloom?”

fullflowermoon13

Practice: yoga, meditation, writing.
Light filled space.
Breath, words, and music.
Love.

All the memoirs that had ever been,
the entire alphabet,
breath and magic.

Cultivate softness.
Dream.
Breathe.
Radiate yourself.

You are a Bodhisattva,
a wisdom being,
fueled by mountain and ocean,
flower and tree,
bird, feather and flight,
green ground and vast blue sky.

Shantideva said:
May I be a protector to those without protection,
A leader for those who journey,
And a boat, a bridge, a passage
For those desiring the further shore.

Shantideva said:
May the pain of every living creature
Be completely cleared away.
May I be the doctor and the medicine
And may I be the nurse
For all sick beings in the world

I said: Life is tender and terrible,
beautiful and brutal —
may I keep my heart open.
May I be happy.
May I be healthy.
May I be peaceful.
May I live with ease.
May I ease suffering,
in myself and in the world.

Full Pink Moon

4-Full-Pink-Moon

Today is a full moon, the Full Pink Moon to be specific. Every month on the full moon, Jamie Ridler hosts a full moon dreamboard practice. There’s typically one theme to contemplate, a single question to consider, and I make a dreamboard that is a visual and textual collage of my heart’s answer, with a poem of sorts as a way to further interpret it. This particular full moon there are more questions than just that one, sent by the Universe for my consideration.

Always there is Rachel Cole‘s question, my mantra, the question underneath every other question.

whatareyouhungryfor

From Julia Fehrenbacher on Judy Clement Wall’s blog: “What has stood in the way of you being your most empowered, loving self, and what are you currently doing to be more of who you really are?”

From Jamie’s Wishcasting Wednesday: “Where do you wish for healing?”

From Jamie’s Full Moon Dreamboard post: “What are you dreaming under this Full Pink Moon? The name represents the pink flowers that so lavishly bloom in the spring. What an invitation to let yourself luxuriate in your dreams, embracing them passionately, sharing them magnificently and enjoying each precious bloom. Let’s share our dreams and make beautiful magic together under the Full Pink Moon!”

Full Pink Moon asks: “What dreams is it time to tend?”

fullpinkmoon13

All of these questions circle around a single answer: The way to health and wellness, the path to peace and strength, the key to freedom is radical acceptance. As Tara Brach defines it, “the willingness to experience ourselves and our lives as it is,” and “clearly recognizing what is happening inside us, and regarding what we see with an open, kind and loving heart.”

I have to fall in love with myself. I have to see myself as I am, a precious and brilliant and passionate mess. I have to honor my truth worth.

Perhaps the biggest tragedy of our lives is that freedom is possible, yet we can pass our years trapped in the same old patterns…We may want to love other people without holding back, to feel authentic, to breathe in the beauty around us, to dance and sing. Yet each day we listen to inner voices that keep our life small. ~Tara Brach

Like a mermaid, I have to dive deep, swim in the dark water. As the Hopi elders said in their prophecy,

There is a river flowing now very fast. It is so great and swift that there are those who will be afraid. They will try to hold on to the shore. They will feel they are being torn apart and will suffer greatly. Know the river has its destination. The elders say we must let go of the shore, push off into the middle of the river, keep our eyes open, and our heads above the water.

As Pema Chödrön suggests, I have to make friends with myself, be honest and kind and gentle.

Be fully present.
Feel your heart.
And engage the next moment without an agenda.

Find peace.
Flexible strength,
health and wellness.
Arching, reaching, stretching, opening.
Light, water, ground, and space.
Breath, muscle, bone, and blood.
Balance.

Sometimes balance is stillness, quiet.
Other times moving brings balance.
Balance is never a fixed point,
the center of gravity is always shifting.

Journey
filled with curiosity, exploration, growth, and expansion
through practices
(meditation, breathing, asana
writing, love, dog)
that align with the highest within me.
In this way, I feel balanced and energized.

It is a process of letting go
of habits of rigidity
and things that no longer serve me.

Relax.
Let go.
Surrender to what is, as it is, as I am.
Move into balance.
Effort matching my ease.

Living is a form of not being sure, not knowing what next or how. The moment you know how, you begin to die a little. The artist never entirely knows. We guess. We may be wrong, but we take leap after leap in the dark. ~Agnes de Mille

Full Moon Dreamboard: Full Worm Moon

Jamie says of the Full Worm Moon:

I share all the time that when I first heard the phrase “Full Worm Moon,” I was less than enthusiastic, but as I discovered that this March moon is when the earth starts to soften and the burrowers of her soil find their way to the surface, I started to change my mind. What if we took our cue from spring and allowed ourselves to soften? What if we let what’s within us find its way to the surface? What tender dreams would be revealed?

Under this Full Worm Moon, open your awareness. Pay attention to the the dreams that are wiggling their way to the surface. What wishes are asking for your attention? What is beginning to emerge? Let your dreamboard guide the way.

What dreams are emerging? What’s stirring?

fullwormmoondreamboard13

As they all do in their own way, this dreamboard surprised me. I began with the guess that it would be about my intention to train to be a yoga teacher, about the ecourse I’m developing, the way I want a small and simple life that is at the same time deep and wide.

What came through that I didn’t expect was focused on art and creativity, healing and courage and practice.

Cobra pose
back bent
heart open
eyes turned towards the sky.

I want art to take me
up and away
away from the expected and the normal.
To me.
Art is the first phase
in a spiritual journey
toward the great mysteries.

And again, Kaun Yin, the Bodhisattva of compassion.
She who hears the cries of the world.
She holds a lotus flower, the innate purity of Buddha nature.
She holds a sutra, the enlightened wisdom of the Dharma.
She holds a mala, the vow of the Bodhisattva to save all beings from suffering.
She holds me.
May I ease suffering,
in myself and the world.

Making a positive difference means:
being more conscious
having the courage to create
being calm and focused
cultivating peace of mind
and the art of asana
staying relaxed
practicing contemplation
allowing the healing power of creativity
inviting grace
giving, making space
breath, life, and vitality of the spirit
opening to love, to joy.

Art & gentle words heal.
Move with ease,
stretch, and breathe.
By balancing effort with ease,
learn to stay open to experience.

There are a thousand different ways to access creativity.
(“A thousand ways to kneel and kiss the ground,
a thousand ways to go home again”).
Each one, at its bottom,
is about tapping into the stillness of each of us
call it grace, God, or Big Mind
the place, the moment where all things are possible.

Full Snow Moon

From Jamie’s post: “Sometimes we bury our dreams and desires deep within, as though hiding them under layers and layers of snow. Protecting them. Protecting ourselves. Waiting until the time is right for them to grow. Now is the time to tune into your heart, to let your intuition and your dreamboard express and reveal the dreams that are hidden inside. Let the creative process take you below the surface, beneath the layers of safety and protection, guiding you to the innermost dreams sparkling in your soul.”

The Full Snow Moon asks: “What desires lie deep within?”

fullsnowmoon2013

Ganesha, lord of beginnings,
remover of obstacles,
master of intellect and wisdom.
The elephant is a symbol of luck, fortune and protection,
and thought to be a blessing to new projects,
able to clear obstacles from your path.
An elephant represents strength, honor, stability, and patience,
and specifically the power of the feminine,
a guardian and protector.

Move with ease, with grace
and a thirst for knowledge, understanding.
Everything’s in reach.
Your garden, your earth, your heart, your deepest longing.
The art of loving, of living
lies in a fine mingling of letting go
and holding on.

Where the spirit leads the feet will follow.
Down distant paths for unmapped miles.
Transformation, as from a caterpillar to butterfly.
A mandala made of dreams and breath and dirt.
Heads forget but hearts remember.
The art of living, of loving knows no bounds.

Kaun Yin, the Bodhisattva of compassion.
She who hears the cries of the world.
She holds a lotus flower, the innate purity of Buddha nature.
She holds a sutra, the enlightened wisdom of the Dharma.
She holds a mala, the vow of the Bodhisattva to save all beings from suffering.
She holds me.

Whole life, whole health.
Community is our heritage–
being with ourselves,
practicing with friends.
Noticing the quintessential nature of things, their origins,
in memory, meditation, emotion, and pure delight.

Sanctuary in practice and place,
space for rest and calm, refuge.
Stay, relax, let go, surrender.
I make a vow, a commitment to dedicate my life
to keeping my heart and mind open,
and to nurturing my compassion
with the longing to ease the suffering of the world.

This video is Deva Premal chanting the Ganesha mantra, intended to remove obstacles. May it make way for a new beginning for all of us, a fresh start in which suffering is eased and love grows in its place.
