Something Good

1. Andrea Gibson, 8/13/75 – 7/14/25. “On July 14th, at 4:16AM, Andrea Gibson died in their home surrounded by their wife, Meg, four ex-girlfriends, their mother and father, dozens of friends, and their three beloved dogs…Andrea would want you to know that they got their wish. In the end, their heart was covered in stretch marks.” I knew this was coming, and yet… One of the last comments I left on Andrea’s blog was, “I do not love a world that will someday be here when you are not. I will also one day desperately love a world where you have been, that holds your open heart, your voice, your poetry in the stars and the sun and the grass and the bunnies and and and and…I love you. ❤️” 💔

When I learned about Andrea Gibson’s death this morning, the first person I thought of was you. You introduced me to their poetry. Thank you for that. Sending you love today.

The last picture… that tree? I have a picture of it saved on my phone. I found it online a while back. I want to get it tattooed on me someday. 💜🌳

I wrote a short thing this morning about Andrea that I think I’ll post. No where near as gorgeous as some tributes I’ve seen on Facebook and elsewhere, but…

I have searched for the original artist of that image, because if you look close it’s actually some sort of textile art, part quilt and part embroidery, and I can’t believe that something so gorgeous isn’t attributed to someone, somewhere. And if you got that tattoo in color, it would take FOREVER and be so expensive! ❤

I’ve also heard some not-so-great things about color tattoos — like how they might not be great for our bodies. So I’m not sure I’d get one myself. And yes, they can be really expensive. But I love that we both felt drawn to that tree.
