Small Stone: In Bed

Shoulder against shoulder, my cheek resting in the curve of your collarbone, my forehead against the side of your neck, your cheek tucked against the top of my head, skin and bone and breath, quiet and warm, comfortable and safe. Still.

Then you move, and I return to my side of the bed.

Small Stone: Volcano Sky

Walking with the dogs in the cold dawn this morning, a warm breeze touches the top of my head and my face. Suddenly, I find myself in my body, in the moment.

I look up at the sky.

“Whoa…”

The clouds billow like smoke from the fire orange bottom. It looks like a volcano erupting.
